About the event

The Great North Run 2024

You can join us for the iconic Great North Run, the biggest half marathon in the UK. Imagine running the stunning city-to-sea course. Lap up the famous local support and see ‘that’ view as you reach the final mile. A day you'll remember forever – including the Red Arrows, lots of local positivity and fun. We'll be there, cheering you on, dancing and pumping out the music! And at the end, you can join us for that all-important cuppa and natter. We can't wait to see you there!

Charity places in the Great North Run 2024

Our charity places for the GNR are currently full but we have a waiting list and would expect for some more places to become available shortly. Please join our waiting list by selecting the waiting list button above and we'll be in touch if a place becomes available.

We do have charity places in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London in October. Click here to find out more and apply.

I have my own place in the Great North Run 2024

If you have your own place, which you have paid for with the event organisers, you can still join Team Tommy’s. You'll receive all the same perks above with no minimum sponsorship pledge. Simply raise as much as you can.

About the Great North Run

The Great North Run is the UK's largest half marathon, taking place annually in September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields in the North East of England. The run was devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medalist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster.

Only the London Marathon comes close to attracting similar numbers of athletes each year.

It's famous for its amazing community support and incredible atmosphere. A real must-do event.

Tommy's helped me and my husband after our lives were turned upside down, when I gave birth to our sleeping angel James. Tommy's supported us over the coming weeks and months and, when we were very lucky to discover we were pregnant again, we looked at Tommy’s to support and ease our concerns. Knowing that Tommy’s is there for support and guidance is such a comfort.

This is why I am running the GNR. Every step I make James will be with me as he always is.

If offered a place, I pledge to raise the minimum sponsorship, which I will pay to the charity within one month of the event.
  
I understand that Tommy’s will pay for my place in this event and must make a profit to continue their life-saving work. By taking a charity place,  I am committing to participate and  fulfil my fundraising pledge. 

I will inform Tommy’s immediately if I am not able to take part and/or unable to meet the fundraising pledge.
